Before you can begin your hunt for the Ancient Magic Hotspots, you’ll first need to progress the story far enough for them to become available. Once you learn how to cast Ancient Magic during the Secrets of the Restricted Section Main Quest, you’ll be able to start seeing Ancient Magic Hotspots in The Highlands. These will increase your Ancient Magic meter by one segment for every challenge you complete.

You must first go into the Challenges screen and collect the reward of the meter upgrade.
