Among the master builders of the Hellion Lodges, one stood above all: Anson Lingen, lead architect of the First Lodge of Grief. A craftsman of rare genius, his hands shaped sanctuaries of war where stone bore the weight of sorrow and every carved pattern was a ward against the Lymbic abyss, while echoing its shapes and colors. Yet discord arose between him and the Lodge’s elders, and so, turning his back on their halls, he journeyed homeward to Losilus in the kingdom of Asteria.

There, amidst the rising spires and growing townships, he plied his trade anew. Whispers spread swiftly, for a hand that had carved the strongholds of the Hellions could not go unnoticed. The clergy of the Kaftan Basilica, the grandest Sabinian temple in the South, sought him out in earnest. Fearful of the return of fiendish Lymbic horrors, they bade him shield their sacred walls with the same sorrow-scripted stones and statues that adorned the Lodges of Grief.
