I can’t believe my luck! An original Carnival mask!
Last night, Ylio and his wonderful wife, Marlene, invited me to a nice home-cooked meal at their home on the outskirts of town. They had found out through the school that I was working on a bit of research about the Week of Peace. I guess they were interested in contributing their stories!
They talked my ear off all night with tales from their childhood. Then, Ylio told me to hold on while he fetched something upstairs. He came back holding a wooden mask and I recognized it instantly! He explained it was an old family heirloom, passed down for generations.
He was ready to give it to me for my research, bless his heart. He was aglow at the idea of the mask serving an academic purpose. I told him I could never accept such a priceless item, that this was a piece of Hadean history! He and Marlene insisted, quite persuasively. Eventually, I accepted!
