These extra-tough units will spawn randomly on set maps; and once they appear you have one chance to take it down for a large points boost (and an achievement/card). It’s well worth remembering that airstrikes and even single-use items are very effective at taking these super-units down with ease (should you find that your current tower assembly isn’t up to the task).
